I'd like to personally challenge Mr. Camping to act with integrity on May 22, 2011. On that date, it will be refreshing to hear him publicly and undeniably say that he was wrong. I've extended the same challenge to other would-be prophets with little success, so I'm not going to hold my breath.
Sometimes, Christians can be dumb.
No, not YOU...those OTHER Christians. They say things like "Take Jesus with you into 2010". What could be dumber than that? Yeah, I know...it's like I'm all nitpicky about words. However: what we say is a pretty good indicator of what we mean.
Interesting: according to National Geographic, a controversial new theory could remove as many as one third of all dinosaur species from our encyclopedias. What's the big idea?
On September 11 2001, America was attacked. I will not forget. Even after eight years, I find that I'm unable to put my feelings into words. I've never watched the movies or documentaries that tell stories from that day. I avoid reading articles about that day.
Wow. This is an amazing video! I've tried six times to describe it without giving away the point, but I find I'm unable to put my thoughts into words. Sometimes we all need a reminder...sometimes we forget to be loving.
Recently, a friend went through a traumatic situation. She's still having trouble dealing with the emotional fallout from that life-changing day. She commented that those who care for others often have nobody to confide in, and it occurred to me that this song might be particularly meaningful for her.
Most of you probably don't know who Nick Cannon is. That's okay...he hasn't made a huge splash yet. He put out one rap album, hosted some Nickelodeon shows, did some cartoon voice-overs, did some stand-up comedy. He's currently the host of America's Got Talent...but his big claim to fame is that he's Mr. Mariah Carey.
I'm not a Christian in spite of the evidence around me. I'm a Christian because of the evidence around me. I love it when people think things through. I love it when people see things for what they are, too...and Greg usually does.
The Greek word PAN means "all", and THEOS means "god". Simply put, Pantheism is the view that everything is God. Another way a pantheist might explain it is that nature and God are the same thing.
The most radical among us (including those who know the real reason for the creation of Planned Parenthood) believe abortion is a good thing. Some consider pregnancy a form of male tyranny, and abortion is their cure. Some have much more 'noble' reasons for thinking abortion is good. One of these people is an Episcopal minister.
The Great Commission is the foundation of the spread of historic Christianity. There's no question that Christianity's rise to prominence is one of the great success stories of history, and that success comes directly from Jesus' final instructions to His disciples:
Many atheists and modern philosophers are materialists...that is, they reject the notion that anything non-physical exists. The second law of thermodynamics, however, proves them wrong.
