The well-known Kalam Cosmological Argument is sometimes dismissed by skeptics… not on the basis of the argument itself, but because it’s used by Christians as support for the biblical account of creation. Here the argument appears in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
The basic argument is this:
- Everything that begins to exist has a cause
- The universe began to exist
- Therefore, the universe has a cause
As far as I can tell, this logical form simply can’t be refuted. If the first and second points are true, the conclusion must also be true.
