Popular culture often tells us that sex is really important, but who you have sex with is irrelevant. Culture also tells us that sex is only a physical act, and that relationship commitments are largely irrelevant. How does that work out in real life?

Surveys tell us that those in stable marriages express a high level sexual satisfaction, and that satisfaction goes down in relation to the number of sexual partners one has had.

God invented sex. It’s reasonable to conclude that following His plan for our sexual activities will result in better outcomes. As McDowell explains, we don’t obey God in order to have better sex. We obey God whether it feels good or not… but better sex is a pleasant side-effect for those who are married and faithful.
