Articles about Christianity and the Bible

Christianity is the largest religion in the world. Despite being the focus of study for 2000 years, Christianity is often considered confusing by both Christians and non-Christians alike. These posts are designed to clarify the simple message of the Bible.

This page lists article and information about the Bible, specifically... including general info, weird stuff, parables, and the Ten Commandments.

I would add to this another reason that young people leave the church: that many churches simply aren't doing what they're supposed to do. A friend told me last Sunday that their young adult son doesn't want to come to church anymore because "it's not relevant". Who's going to argue with that?

Sandra asked: "I heard someone say we are in a culture war. What is a culture war?" That's a good question, Sandra. A "culture war" is when one group's ideas about what society should be like conflicts with another group's ideas about what society should be like.

Kelly asked: "I had a strange occurrence where I was consumed with love and happiness that made me light headed and trembly. I also could not hold back the tears of joy. Could this be the Holy Spirit? And what does this mean for me moving forward?"

I get a fair amount of email from GodWords readers (thank you!), and questions about avoiding temptation come up frequently. This song has helped me keep a wise perspective on such things, and I've been singing it to my son at night for over a decade. All temptations offer a trade: momentary pleasure for long-term suffering.

Aaron asked: "I saw your comments regarding baptism and you said baptism is not necessary to get to heaven...but its Jesus' commandment for us to be baptised. If we don't, aren't we disobeying? Isn't disobedience a sin? How can we get to heaven without baptism?"

Elvis asked: "Is it okay for a church to fellowship with other churches and denominations?" Yes, it's totally okay for a church to fellowship with other churches and denominations. The Body of Christ is made of all Christians, everywhere, from all times.

Tony asked: "Is it possible for a Christian; a follower of Jesus Christ to be a pacifist and an anarchist, who simply rejects all forms of violence and all worldly systems of government and business...?"

Recently, a GodWords reader sent me a personal message in which he stated, "Theology is a LIE!!!". He may have actually used four exclamation points, come to think of it. Either way, part of his point was that...well, that theology is a lie. I've heard that before.

Doreen asked: "I do not cut my hair because I believe the bible says not to. This may seem silly, but I would like to style my hair by putting lots of layers but keeping it looking long...one Pastor says never ever cut your hair and others just do not care one way or the other. What do you think?"

Doreen asked: "I have heard that Cain and Abel were twins. If this is true, how would I find this in the bible? Thank you."
