The ‘New Atheists’ describe a modern movement in atheism, led by four prominent men: Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens.
While they don’t generally hold ideas that differ from regular atheism, their approach differs from the norm. They are essentially a group of evangelical atheists…that is, they are aggressively anti-religious, seeking converts as one would for a traditional religion. In their view, religion is irrational and superstitious. This should not be tolerated, but countered by argumentation. A general view, displayed by these ‘four horsemen’ and their followers, is that atheism is a more moral and honest framework than any religion could be.
