A Hebrew inscription on a jar unearthed at Tel Abel Beth Macaah may resolve a long-running dispute about the extent of Israelite territory in the 9th-century B.C.E. Written in Hebrew, the inscription reads “belonging to Benaiyo.”

Why is this important? Some scholars of antiquity claim that the biblical accounts of the exodus and the conquest of Canaan are either fabricated or exaggerated. With each new archaeological find, we have more evidence about what really happened.
