Pacifism is the view that violence and war are unnecessary and ultimately do more harm than good, and so should be avoided.
The history of Christianity shows that many Christians have been pacifists. Many base this decision in Jesus’ non-violence during His trial and execution, seeking to emulate His character. While this desire should be applauded, it should not be considered normative or binding for all Christians. The book of Revelation shows that Jesus is committed to violence and war, but only in the appropriate circumstance.
