Bible translation is a complicated process, but we’ve been at it for a long, long time. Most modern Bibles are fully reliable, being translated from the oldest ancient manuscripts. There are a few to be avoided, but they’re rare.

This article won't keep you from stumbling over the names of Old Testament people and places in your Sunday School class. It will, however, help you understand the variety in the linguistic history of written Hebrew.

There have been a lot of Bible translations in the 2000+ years since Jesus was born, died, and came back to life. This list is English-based... that is, I want to list the timeline from the original writings to modern English Bibles.
