The New International Version (NIV) is an English translation of the Bible. One of the most popular modern translations, it was first published in 1978 with revisions in 1984 and 2011. Because many older biblical manuscripts had been found after other Bibles were published, the NIV was intended to be a highly-readable Bible using the best translation techniques and the oldest available manuscripts in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic.
